Club history
Formed in 1956, Aberystwyth & District Motor Club Ltd. is the longest established Motor Club in Mid Wales and has throughout that period promoted events for enthusiasts to enjoy, on both a local and international level.
Since the 1960's, competitors have clamored to secure an entry on our events. Rallies such as "The Night Owl", "The Cambrian News Trophy", "Forge Garage Trophy" and the "Rally Radio Link Mewla Stages", all promoted by Aberystwyth & District Motor Club. These events formed part of Welsh Association of Motor Club Championships, Castrol/Motoring News Championship and the RAC Shell/Autosport British Championship.
Members of ADMC have always been anxious to assist other organisers and this brought three major events to the town in the 70's and 80's. Assisted by an enthusiastic local club both the FRAM Filters International Welsh Rally and the Lombard RAC Rally made several visits to the town, providing a much needed night halt as those near marathon events made their way through the classic Welsh forests. Likewise, the Castrol/Autosport Championship arrived in the guise of the Castrol 75 Rally which kept Aberystwyth as it's base for over 15 years. But road rallying is the foundation of our club, and who can blame us with the roads we have! Nant-y-Moch, Pendam, Goginan Mines, Elan Valley, Abergwesyn, and many more evocative names describe some of the finest lanes and byways in the country, and they all form part of our backyard!
We currently promote two road rallies, the Night Owl and the Ystwyth.
We have a series of monthly events for our own members, Treasure Hunts, Navigational Scatters, Autotests etc., and a healthy Social Scene. Please browse the site for more details.
